Pasture Mowing & Forestry Mulching

Project Overview

Pasture grass and tall green weeds had grown chest-high under the mature oak trees on this Boerne property, and woody brush had filled in everywhere else. The goal was a full cleanup — bring the whole place back to a sharp, open look and get the growth under control again.

Scope of Work

• Pasture mowed the grass and tall weeds with the brush cat
• Mulched the thicker woody growth — persimmons, agarita, and other unwanted bushes — with the forestry mulcher
• Selectively saved the mountain laurels the owner liked for their purple-blue blooms
• Cleaned up the thick back section of brush surrounding his walnut trees and a cherry tree

Terrain & Site Conditions

Rocky ground in a valley setting, with the property sloping up a hillside in places. The rocks made some spots harder to cut, and the grade set the working limits — the job started at the bottom of the valley and climbed to a line partway up the slope where the skid steer stopped.

Challenges & Considerations

The slopes were the main thing to manage. Cutting on angled ground is slower and more tedious, and the skid steer had to stay below a certain elevation to stay safe — so the upper hillside was worked from the bottom up rather than driven across.

Result

The property came out park-like. The oaks stand clean with open grass under them, the back section around the walnuts and cherry tree is tidied up, and the regrowth will be far easier to stay on top of going forward. A couple of days of work, and the owner loved the result.
