Oak Understory Cleanup & Tree Trimming

Project Overview

A stand of mature oaks below the residence on this Kerrville property had gotten lost under thick understory growth. The owner wanted the area cleaned up selectively — brush out, pasture mowed, dead standing trees down where needed, and the attractive natives left in place.

• Forestry mulched understory brush
• Mowed the pasture
• Removed selected dead standing trees
• Trimmed up the oak canopies
• Preserved native vegetation worth keeping

Terrain & Site Conditions

Gentle slope below the residence with light to moderate surface rock — typical Kerrville Hill Country setting, friendly for equipment but with grade to manage.

Challenges & Considerations

Selective cleanup under mature oaks is judgment work — which dead standing trees actually need to come down, which natives are worth saving, how close to push the mulcher to the trunks. We kept the operator deliberate and left the property looking intentional rather than cleared.

Result

The oaks stand out the way they should, the ground beneath them is clean and walkable, dead standing trees are handled, and the property feels twice as big from the residence.
