Brush Pile Mulching

Kerrville Area, TX

Project Overview

The owner had cedar brush piles built up around a mature hackberry and wanted them dealt with. After weighing haul off versus mulching in place, they chose mulching for the efficiency and the clean finish.

Scope of Work

  • Forestry mulched cedar brush piles in place
  • Smoothed out the work area underneath
  • Cleaned up surrounding ground
  • Worked piles from the outside in to protect the hackberry

Terrain & Site Conditions

Flat ground with rocky limestone and flint rock at the surface — common around Kerrville and Kerr County. Rock slows the equipment some but doesn't change the approach.

Challenges & Considerations

Limestone and flint at the surface is hard on mulcher teeth and asks for steady, controlled passes. The hackberry in the middle of it also needed to be left alone, so the piles got worked from the outside in.

Result

Piles are gone, the area around the hackberry is clean and intact, and the property is back to a usable, finished state.
